Crash when install the Fortran Compiler on Mac OS X

Hi guys!

I have some problems when installing the fortran compiler on OS X 10.10.5. When I try to install it using the full offline installer package, the installer app runs and I get to the point where it asks to install as root or as administrator.  If I try to install as administrator is simply says "Authorization failure.  Check password and try again."  However, it never prompts for a password.  If I try to install as root, it does prompt me for a password, but I receive the same error. And also the online installer gave me the same problem. 

When I try to use the terminal to open ./install_gui, it returns

So, how to solve this kind problems?

We recently become aware of similar issues with the PSXE 2016 release installation on the OS X 10.11 Beta. The installation team is still investigating to understand the root cause. I will share with them your errors and let you know if there's any available work around.

Unfortunately there is no work around. As you noted, there is a unexpected catastrophic installer error here and the resolution is to wait until the PSXE 2016 Update 1 becomes available. That is tentatively scheduled for the mid-Q4 '15 timeframe. I'm sorry I don't have better news. I will post another reply to this thread when it becomes available so you will know.

I have the similar problem. I'm using OS X 10.10.5, when I download the m_fcompxe_2016.0.033.dmg and double click the .app files. Nothing happens.

Hi, I have the same problem with Intel C/C++ Parallel Composed for OS X install. The machine is a mid 2012 macbook air with a clean El Capitan. I'd be grateful for any advice.

Same issue here and I wonder why is that the updates are always delayed?  

El Capitan beta was already available when the PSXE 2016 was release. I guess It could have been tested for upcoming OS X version.

@zuch - I don't know what updates you are referring to. Could you clarify?

We do test Beta releases of OS X* as soon as those become available but unfortunately we too are often surprised by changes to either Xcode and/or the OS that we aren't afforded early notification/insight about. We just learned of changes on El Capitan related to no longer allowing some sym-links under /usr/bin that we're adjusting to now also. We are also investigating alternatives that we may be able to accomplish to address the installation "Authorization failure" issues reported in the OP. Hopefully we can offer something sooner than our planned PSXE 2016 Update 1 which is tentatively still at least a month out.

I will note that the errors in the OP when running "install_gui" occur because that command should not be run manually, so that is not a failure of the installer. The errors specific to this thread that we are addressing relate to the Authorization failure.

@gus - As soon as I know something to help resolve this issue, I will post a reply to this thread.

If it helps, I struggled with several versions of Fortran on a MAC 10.11 system.

I disabled the permissions thing (SIP) on the systems directories.

For 2016 version, I have the same issues as another user. Click  on the install icon, and either I get nothing, or it asks for a root password (which is not always the same as sudo, and I think there is no 'root.' user) and fails or asks for administrator privileges (eg, sudo), and that fails to pop up anything.

I then tried a couple of older versions of composure, and finally got one to work, but only if I "sudo ifort..." otherwise it cannot find a library (libnotify.dylib? not 100% sure, I left that "test" laptop home). Seems not to be an issue if I am sudo'ing to make ifort run, but the missing library file is not where it is trying to find it when I invoke ifort as a regular user. Beats me.

Thank you for sharing your insights, Steve. I am sorry to hear that you too are having problems. I added your instance to the internal report (post #2) that I created earlier to track this issue and also added your feedback regarding PSXE 2015.

I have tried the previous version and It installed but asked me an activation number which is not available for 2015 version.

Hopefully I'm reading your comment correctly. What I think you experienced is using your serial number issued for the Parallel Studio XE 2016 Composer Edition with the PSXE 2015 release but the installer is not accepting it.

If that is your situation then you can refer to the article, How Do I Get My License File for Intel® Parallel Studio XE 2016 or Intel® System Studio 2016?, to have the license file sent to you. You can then place that on your system and direct the installer to use the license file itself.

If you can hold off a few days, our PSXE 2016 Update 1 is due to release next week and it will resolve the issues many are facing with the hanging PSXE 2016 installation and/or the System Integrity Protection feature in OS X*.
