Don't understand reqt for C++ compiler

Hello;

I had IVF 9.1 running before, but a hard disk crash and replacement forced me to reinstall it from my CD-Rom.

Now it says it want me to install C++.NET (2003). I don't believe I ever had to buy this before. Wasn't it supposed to come bundled WITH the compiler?

Or did that come with the Visual Studio package? It seems like if the C++ compiler was required, it should have been included.

For now I am willing to run the compiler without the IDE, and maybe get Visual Studio 2008 later.

10.1 was the first release of ifort to include the Microsoft linker and libraries in the PPE option. It's also the first release which works with VS2008. 9.1 was capable of running from command line with a Visual Studio 2003 Express C++ installation, so it was true, you didn't need a purchased Microsoft component unless you wanted GUI operation.

Minor correction - 10.0 was the first version to include the necessary Microsoft pieces. 10.1.019 or later is needed for VS2008 support.

Hi Dr. Fortran;

Well, now I'm really up the proverbial **** creek it appears. How do I get back a running compiler? I thought I had premium support when I bought this version in Oct. 2007. But, I can't log in there.

I am now missing TWO items: The Visual Studio 2005, and the C++.NET I haven't the foggiest idea how to reinstall those. How do reinstall obsolete software? Does anyone even sell those any more?

Simply copying back the files to the new HD drive is insufficient.

I'm a bit confused too. If you purchased in October 2007, you would have received version 10.0 or even 10.1, not 9.1. If you want to get the current version, log in at the Intel Registration Center. If you need help with this, send me an email (click Contact above this reply) and give me your serial number so I can look it up. (Do not post serial numbers in this forum.)

A purchase in October 2007 would give you full support, including updates, for a year.

If you want to install 9.1, you need either Visual Studio 2005 (or 2003) or Visual C++.NET (2003) - not both. You must have had one or the other to install 9.1 if you were using the Visual Studio interface. But if you are still under support, you can download and install w_fc_p_10.1.025.exe which includes Visual Studio Premier Partner Edition so there's nothing else to buy. If your support has expired, renewing it is a cost-effective way of getting up to the current version.

Hi Dr. Fortran;

I checked with the registration center, and looked up serial number [deleted]. That was the serial number on the original package.
It says that I am SIGNED UP for 10.1, but when I downloaded it and I try to run it, it says "Intel Fortran Compiler 9.1" and the files are dated Oct. 2007. No mention of 10.1 anywhere that I can see.

When I installed and ran it, it said I was running 9.1, and the folders are all marked 9.1. So if I am signed up for 10.1, why didn't I get that? The message said I have to have at least C++ version 7.0.

So even though they don't sell that anymore, I am still getting it. How come?

How do I actually get the later version?

Boy, am I thoroughly confused - - - -

Bill,

Please do not post serial numbers in public!

Your license was issued for 9.1 but is good through August 2009. Someone must have held onto this package for a long time. We have a special process that has to be followed for customers in your situation with 9.1 licenses that want access to 10.0/10.1 with Visual Studio Premier Partner Edition. Simply file a support request with Intel Premier Support and ask for this, and include your serial number in the request. You'll get a new license issued that gets you access to 10.1.
