Expired IVF8 License File?

While trying to install the new IVF8.0.047 compiler I received the following message when I tried to specify the C:Program FilesCommon FilesIntelLicensesfc_com_cd.lic and w_for_43604798.lic files as license files, "The license file you selected has expired. Select a different license file and click OK. Please see the release notes for more information."
My guess is that the Intel support I got when I bought IVF has expired. How do I go about renewing it, and why didn't I receive some kind of communication about this from Intel in advance of the expiration?

I found the Shop Intel site to order my service renewal. It was a bit of a roundabout journey, though. I kept getting returned to the same place until I figured out how to break out of the loop and get to the right destination.

My one question still remains: Why didn't Intel notify me in advance that my premier support was going to expire?

The Shop Intel site required me to establish another ID before it let me place my order. That's the third one I have for Intel. The other two are for logging in to the premier support site and for viewing this forum. Why does Intel require these separate IDs? Can't they be combined?

I'm surprised that the registration center and premier support IDs are separate - I'll ask about that. The forum is run by a separate organization.
I don't know why you weren't notified that the license was up for renewal. I'll ask about that too.

As a matter of interest I use the same User/Password for both the forum(s) and Premium Support, and I might add I am pleased to now have the password systems working, it took some persuasion. Not sure why, perhaps just a dumb ("old") user.

Good luck

Don,

I don't know how you managed to get the same user ID and password for browsing the forum and accessing premium support. Did you make a special request or something?

For browsing the forum and accessing premium support I had to pick both a user ID/name and a password. The Shop Intel site where I ordered my support renewal used my e-mail address as my ID and required that I pick a password. I tried both of my other two passwords first in the hope that one of them would work. Neither of them did, so I had to pick a new password. That was my third one.

I'm all for appropriate security, but this seems to be a bit much.

Mike,

My password troubles had me going around in circles and I ended up requesting how to access the sites etc as the automatically generated passwords were not only horrendous but beyond my capability to use. The support (from 'quadsupport@mailbox.intel.com'I think) were most helpful after a somewhat terse request from me. They sent me a relatively short (11 character password) that I managed to handle and then even change succesfully much to my surprise. I await with trepidation my next need to change the password due in a couple of weeks from now my interpretation of their site is correct.

Seems such a simple concept, but I remain astounded how difficult it has been to master the correct sequences. Shades of finding character zeros replacing alpha "o" in code of old.

Well, my license expired too, and I found out when I tried to install the latest release (after uninstalling current one). So I renewed on Saturday, but still can't get it. First it wouldn't accept my login. Then when Ifound a way to g et inproperly (with current email address), it said the renewal didn't match anything I owned. So I called shop-intel., was told I had to email developer support since they have no phone access. So I did, and they responded Monday and said I needed to give them the old serial number; couldn't find it, so I sent the copy of the license contents.

Response was very detailed and clear as what to do--except I needed to login with my old email address (defunct for 8 months--changed for premium support, etc.). Since we're required to change passwords so often, I have no idea what it is. But even if I did, they would email the license stuff to a bad address. So now I'm awaiting another response for what to do.

Luckily, I'm not held up by needing the latest release.....yet.
