My April 2005 issue of Fortran Forum from ACM mentions the status of Fortran 2003 and a schedule for Fortran 2008. It looks like the target for publication of the Fortran 2008 standard is scheduled for August 2009.
This is the first I've heard of Fortran 2008. Anyone have the scoop on this?
The full schedule is available by FTP from ftp://ftp.nag.co.uk/sc22wg5/N1551-N1600/N1590.txt. The requirements which have so far been registered with WG5 for consideration for incorporation in the next revision of Fortran are in WG5 document N1613, available by FTP as ftp://ftp.nag.co.uk/sc22wg5/N1601-N1650/N1613.txt. The list of features under consideration by J3 is at http://j3-fortran.org/doc/standing/2005/05-009.txt. A spreadsheet showing a summary of these and further items under consideration by J3 is at http://j3-fortran.org/doc/year/05/05-145r3.xls.

The Fortran standards committee has begun work on the next revision of the Fortran standard. It's way too soon to even guess what it might contain - there are many proposals. Note that this is supposed to be a minor revision, along the lines of F95 vs. F90.
