The FortranCon 2025 Call for Abstracts is still open — final deadline is September 12th!
FortranCon 2025 is the third edition of the International Conference on the development and usage of the Fortran programming language, taking place ONLINE on November 4-5, 2025. The event brings together active Fortran project developers—library and tool developers, as well as scientific application users, to share experience and exchange ideas. The conference is organized by the community, for the community.
We are excited to announce a second call for abstracts, with a final extended deadline of September 12, 2025. Decisions will be communicated by October 7, 2025.
For the Keynote talk we are happy to welcome John Reid, active member of ISO Fortran Committee ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 (WG5 Convenor from 1999 through 2017).
This year, FortranCon is supported by the Back to the Fortran Future Network, an international initiative based in the UK with representation from the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, France, and USA, spanning academia, government, industry, and open source. Prof. Austen Rainer and Dr. Andrew Brown (Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland) co-facilitate the network.
The conference will be held in Europe’s afternoon, America’s morning, and Asia’s/Australia’s late evening, enabling participation from all regions. As in previous years, there is room for associated local or in-person events such as workshops on the first day afternoon (US time zones) or second day morning (EU time zones). If you are interested in organizing such an event, please contact us at operators@fortrancon.org.
All presentations will be recorded and made available on the FortranCon Youtube channel.
