Hello - I'm from the Windows world and usually use Visual Studio as a development environement.
I want to try Intel Compilers Suite under Linux and would like to ask you what do I need (to install) to begin the development under Linux?
Canyou advice me on acomfortable development environment in Linux (like Visual Studio under Windows), where the intel compiliers can be integrated in the shell? What distribution of Linux is better for scientific algorithms (numerical optimisation, differential equations, advanced statistics,...) using Math Kernel Library, Visual Numerics IMSL and Visual Fortran Compilier. I have Mandriva Linux, could it be suited for this case ?
And last but not least question, I've heard that Fortran Linux compiler gives better performance than Windows one? Are there benchmarks proving it for MKL for example ?
Thank you in advance for your answers!

I don't know where you read that the Linux compiler gives better performance than the Windows compiler - we don't believe that to be the case. There are some performance differences between the operating systems but they're generally minor and not under compiler control.
Mandriva Linux is not a supported distribution for use with the Intel Fortran Compiler. You can find the list of supported configurations here. It may work with Mandriva, but we have not tested that.
I'll let others answer your other questions.
