Having trouble installing recent oneAPI Toolkits on Windows with VS 2022 especially when earlier versions of oneAPI or PSXE are installed? This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to have a successful install.

I had VS2022, VS2019, PSXE and oneAPI installed and these instructions worked for me. Be sure to do the steps in order. I am now successfully running VS2022 v17.3.6 with oneAPI 2022.3.

Eliminating these kinds of issues has a high priority with the Intel software development teams.

PSXE    == Sheriff of Nottingham

and oneAPI  == Robin Hood

Cannot share the same castle, leave the Sheriff to wither on the vine.

Because I had an error opening fortran projects in VS2019, I uninstalled as VS2019. VS2022 worked. Then I saw this thread, and did everything exactly as specified in link. Now I cannot install 2022.3 because it cannot detect 2019 or 2022 installation.

Which oneAPI Toolkit are you installing? I only installed oneAPI HPC Toolkit. I know, the recommendation is to install oneAPI Base Toolkit, too.

Did not try HPC as base gave error, no IDES. Rebooted a lot in between. Only change was unregistering dll and renaming it as per link instructions.

Repairing 2022.3.6 VS2022 and noticed a "new" Microsoft.VisualStudio.Setup.Configuration.Native,  created and modifies Monday, ‎June ‎13, ‎2022, ‏‎8:59:48 PM.

Reboot required from VS2022 repair; base kit finds IDE's.

The best place to ask about installation is this Forum . There's a team there who specializes in Installation issues.

I posted this article as a Public Service Announcement!
