IMSL library compatibility confusion

Hi all,

Im still a little bit confused with IMSL library and Intel Visual Fortran integration.

Although Intel is offering Intel Visual Fortran Professional edition 11.1 (latest current version of compiler) with IMSL library, on VNI web pages (Visual Numerics, developers of IMSL Fortran library) Ive found that they are offering IMSL 6.0 Fortran Library only for Intel Visual Fortran compiler version 10.0, and current version is 11.1.

Please see the following link:

http://www.vni.com/forms/fortran_download_choice.php

A couple of question came up from my last statement.

1.
Does it mean that Intel make some additional changes in their Fortran compiler to provide compatibility with IMSL Fortran Library 6.0 (because IMSL is only compatible with previous version 10.0 of Intel Visual Fortran Compiler)?

2.
If Im going to buy the latest IMSL Fortran Library 6.0 directly from Visual Numerics (I know that would be a more expensive option, but as hypothesis), does it mean that it wont work with latest Intel Visual Fortran Compiler 11.1 because they only guarantee compatibility with previous version of Intel Fortran Compiler version 10.0?

I hope that someone can help me, since the provided link from Visual Numerics web (see link above) are entering a lot of confusion to people who are going to develop applications using the latest Intel Visual Fortran compiler 11.1 with mathematical library from Visual Numerics.

We don't make any changes in the IMSL libraries - those are provided to us directly by VNI. VNI does rebuild IMSL with each new major compiler release, including changes and bug fixes they have made to their sources. We received the most recent update for our 11.1 release. I don't know why the VNI web pages refer to Intel Fortran 10.0 - you'll have to ask them. (Their web forum is a good place for that.)

Be aware that if you buy IMSL from VNI directly, the license terms are slightly different than if you buy it as part of Intel Visual Fortran. As purchased from VNI, you must buy, at additional cost, run-time licenses to run applications using IMSL on other computers, where you don't need to do that when bought from Intel.
