INtel Desktop utilities

I have an 945PSN motherboard running windows XP Pro on a 3GHz D processor. I installed the intel desktop utilities and it was working fine. I upgraded the BIOS to the latest (1/2006 version). After doing the BIOS update, now the desktop utilities (the software that displays voltage, temperature, etc.) starts up but then gives an error message that the service program is not active then exits.

I reinstalled the utility after removing it and no change.

Sorry, this forum is specifically for Intel's Fortran Compiler for Windows product and we don't have information on motherboard utilities. I suggest you go here and look for the proper support channel or use the "contact support" link on that page.

But the support is so good here, why go any place else? I may start asking my Lahey support questions here to (occasional Intel/CVF questions on the Lahey forum).

Car Talk gives good answers too. Why don't you give Tom and Ray a call and see what they advise.

Hello, first sorry but my English is really bad 'cause my native language is Spanish... but I will try to help you.

I have the 945GNT motherboard and I have the same problem, IDU report me "Service program in not active". After a few days thinking about the problem I found the cause in my case (I don't found any solution in the web).

Cause: my Norton firewall was blocking the access for the AdminWorks Agent program (This file is in IntelIDU folder and his name is AwServ.exe).
Solution: Grant access for this application.
Result: Intel Desktop Utilities works fine.

Then check your firewall settings, I hope this solution works for you too.

Bye

Every link regarding the error message"service program is not active" when I try & start the "Intel desktop utilities" brings me back to this forum. I am not the only one experiencing this problem.

Plse advise.
