Install Problem

Sorry to back up to primordial issues but I am trying to re-install Visual Fortran 11.1 in a clean instal of XP Pro (had to rebuild rather than restore disk). Install unzis files and asks for licence then results in a popup saying: Invalid Directory: C\Program Files Access is denied.

Seem top recall this happened in earlier versions but not lately.

Any help would be appreciated

Are you installing from an account with Administrator privilege?

I do recall another report of this but we weren't able to reproduce it. Are you willing to allow us to connect to your system to have a look around - sometime next week?

Try disabling any antivirus or similar software and see if that helps.

Yes I am installing from an administrator account. Tried turning off firewall and antivirus - no help. Also turned off file sharing. Next week will be fine.

I had the issue with 11.0 not allowing me to update/install to Program Files directory?
Bizarre behavior and apparently only occurs on certain systems.
Before and since I haveinstalled/updated other softwares to Program Files (even older versions of the Intel compile) but for some reason the 11.0ofthe Intel compiler didn't want to go.
So as a work around i installed 11.0 toc:INTEL directory and everything works fine.
If you track down a reason for this strange behavior on certain systems,please let me know.

Yes, it was your issue I remembered. I have not yet heard from cftac about arranging an interactive session.

Sorry to drop off the screen but I discovered other problems with the disk I was rebuilding associated with the latest NVIDIA software and drivers. Fixing this turned out to be much more of a job than I expected and I ultimately had to back up to a clean start. In any event I need to make sure that the problem is still present before going any further. I will reinstall this afternoon and let you know. It is true, however, that after multiple generations of compilers, visual studio and maintaining both laptop and office machines that the only place I have seen this kind of problem is with downloads from Intel. The last time it was the IMSL package but it has happened before.

christ, which exact version are you trying to install? 11.1.xxx - what is the xxx? If it is 038, have you tried 048?

Hi Steve,

I am installing 11.1.048_ia32

I cleaned up the disk and registry as much as possible but still had the problem. Interestingly the Windows event viewer showed that every step of the installation was successful even though it never got started. I will send you an email with my contact info but I am leaving in about 90 minutes and will be away for the rest of the week.Is the issa log file of any use?
