I purchased the Intel Visual Fortran Compiler, Version 10.0. My question, do I need to purchase Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 as well to build applications?

If a version of ifort including the PPE version of VS2005 was issued during the term of your license, you should be able to install an upgrade which supports Fortran (no C/C++) without buying the separate Visual Studio. Did you register at https://registrationcenter.intel.com and check which upgrades are available?

Version 10.0 included Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition, meaning that no additional purchase was necessary. It should install automatically if needed. But I'll comment that this version is now two years old.
