New Forum design - hard to read text of topic

I have problems to read topics in the new forum design. I am using Firefox 15.0 browser.

All forum looks like in the fog. Font of the text of topic is not black but gray so it is difficult to read to me.

Is there any possibility to change forum appearance (in user preferences)?

There have been a lot of comments about changed functionality of the new forum, but very little response on why the changes were made or if some "problems" identified will be repaired. Will the "LAST POST/NEXT POST"navigation buttons return ? Loss of formatting using spaces is also annoying. I can't identify the significant advance this new forum provides. It appears we should just use what we have. John

I agree with John that it is hard to recognize the advantages of the new forum. But going back to the old forum would probably cause a lot of effort with many chances to screw it up again. Let's stick to the new forum, with the improvements suggested here.

>>...I agree with John that it is hard to recognize the advantages of the new forum. . I also agree with the point and I don't see any responses from Intel that we're working very hard to solve all detected issues and problems. Here are a couple of them: . - Performance problems ( some Jscript is loading CPU(s) for 100% ) - Formatting functionality of the new editor - How could we submit source codes? Attaching files is not convinient and they could be lost - Why does the new editor delete spaces? - Removed post numbers and how could I refer to some post? In the old system all posts were numbered and it was very useful! . >> But going back to the old forum would probably cause a lot of effort with many chances to screw it up again. . That is simply not possible. A main reason for an upgrade was '...It was too difficult to maintain the old system...' This is an official statement from an Intel manager. . >>...Let's stick to the new forum . This is exactly what Intel wants to achieve. . Best regards, Sergey

I was not suggesting that we go back to the old forum. I was noting the lack of response from Intel to identified problems with the functionality of the new forum. I am surprised that the forum was changed to a new version which has a number of significant flaws. Will there be any recognition of these problems and an indication if some of them will be addressed. -The last/next topic buttons have been lost. -The post numbers have been removed. -The comment box has bugs with the (intuitive) commands. (Why doen't up arrow work !!) -I can't find speel check or text boxes. -Any space formatting of posts is removed. Maybe I should be more fluent in html, but my speciality is Fortran. (possibly says something of the developer of this new forum, rather than a focus on the user) . As a +ve: I like the new attach. It's much simpler, although given that .for and .f90 are not supported, there was clearly a lack of consideration of who uses this forum. (why has this happened!!) . Most of us have experienced providing upgrades to users. As an upgrade, I'd expect the client feedback survey for this upgrade would not give a high score. I know a better performance is expected from my upgrade implementations. This upgrade is a puzzle to me. Few identifiable improvements and some significant failures or omissions. I would have expected to experience better from a premium solutions provider like Intel. My apologies for going on, but my experience of this upgrade has certainly dented my view of Intel Software's reputation. I am truely surprised. . It would be good to get feedback indicating if some improvements are possible. . John

All of these issues have been reported to the Intel Developer Zone team and will be addressed.

Continued... . Dear IDZ managers and developers, . Some companies, for example Digital Photography Review, are asking for users' feedback before a major update is done to a community forum(s). Please follow a link and it would be nice if Intel thinks about a community of developers and follows the same respectful way: . http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/09/27/Forums-Redesign-2012 . .... Major update to dpreview forums coming soon: tell us what you think . In an ongoing effort to improve the performance and user experience on dpreview, we've rewritten and redesigned the forums, and will be launching the new version in a few days. From a look-and-feel standpoint, we made an effort to stay faithful to the core of the old design (no point throwing out the bits that work well) and from a functional standpoint, we focused on adding, rather than removing features.... . >>...All of these issues have been reported to the Intel Developer Zone team and will be addresses. . Is it difficult to change the color of a text in the new editor? No, however it is not done in 4 weeks! . Dear IDZ managers and developers, Do you understand that some people have vision problems? I can't read clearly and I need ro move my head as closer as possible to my display.

I see that some changes are done regarding a secure internet access ( http instead of https ): . Before I had to use https://secure-software.intel.com/user/[nnnnnn]/track . Now I could use https://software.intel.com/user/[nnnnnn]/track . Any comments or recommendations?

Either one should work - but in general we suggest you use software.intel.com if you are saving URLs. https is used to protect user content.

Steve, there is a problem with dates in a 'Last Updated' column on a User's Contributions web-page. Dates are not right and I'll provide an example later.

>>...there is a problem with dates in a 'Last Updated' column on a User's Contributions web-page... . Here are simple steps to see the problem: . - follow a link: http://software.intel.com/user/353909/track - at the bottom of the web-page select a web-page #5 - select a Forum topic 'KMP_Affinity' ( it shows Last Updated 1 month 1 week ago ) - a last post was done by a user 'Repeat Offender' on Sun, 05/20/2012, that is more than 1 month 1 week ago

For older threads, the last updated date is showing when the thread was migrated to the new forums Annalee

Hi everybody, . This is simply to report that today I had a strange error message on IDZ: . ...Error message: The spam filter installed on this site is currently unavailable... . Any comments? It was discussed some time ago that it would be nice to have an absolutely generic forum dedicated to problems, errors and issues with IDZ website. Any progress on this?

The url should not be a local drive, it should be somewhere universally acessable. The embed keyword does not appear to be working though. http://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/composer_xe_buy_box.png edit: Embedding videos is working http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qyfhc0Lf6c

The IDZ developers are working on these and issues that have been reported. Is there a particlar issue you would like a timeline for? Thanks, Annalee
