Newbie Question: Do I need to recompile MPI after ifort is installed?

Hi all,
Can anybody offer some information on how to connect MPI and ifort? On our cluster ifort was installed AFTER mpich 1.2.5.2 was installed. We added ifort in mpif90 conf file, but when compiling with mpif90, the mpi subroutines cannot be found.
mpif77 works just fine.
