Not possible to produce a Fortran executible that will run on WinXP?

I've tried everything I can think of.

An .exe produced on Win7 now does not execute on WinXP. Why should this be?

The Intel compiler and MS visual studio no longer install on WinXP.

It appears sad but true, because XP is still my favorite operating system.

Why does Intel have to link itself to Microsoft in this way?
