Please try new download center

We're phasing in a new way of getting product downloads that should eliminate many of the problems users have seen before. I encourage you to try it and let me know how it works for you.

Instead of getting them from Intel Premier Support, log into the Intel Registration Center and click Product Downloads. You will be shown downloads your licenses are eligible for. There are two different servers available and the descriptions are easier to read.

Looks good and works fine. Personally, I liked the older inteface with a plain list better than the fancy new list boxes, but will take either one. :-)

Well, the old interface had these problems:

- Files were listed strictly in date order of when they were made available, confusing many when we released an update to an older version (such as 8.1)
- The descriptions had all formatting removed making them hard to read
- The actual downloading was slow and unreliable for some, especially those outside the US.

I've tried it: it was a nogo. It claims my password is wrong and thenit emails the passwordto me as I or my password manager appears to have forgotten it, and recursively. When it emails a temporary password which you use to long on with and then change, the longon dialog expects a password of 8 characters but the temporary password provided is ca. 12-15 characters long. So you can't win. Given that you have a lic file, a registeredproduct, and an active subscription, what's so complicated in prodviding live updates instead ofthe outdated expectation that customers are going to drop in bylogging on toa secure server just to to check on thepickings of the moment.From within the VS IDE, there ought to be a 'Check for Intel Updates'button and if so then install them and be done with it. Larger software companies than Intel succeed in doing this while safeguarding their product and their propriety rights. Download centres are pass.

The logon password is not limited to a maximum of 8 characters. Perhaps a minimum of 8.
