Yesterday 11/28/07 there was a press release from Intel stating compatibility with OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and the Intel C++ and Fortran compilers.
I see version 10.1 (006) on the Intel product downloads page, and it is known that there are compatibility problems with this version and OS X 10.5.
Is this a late (22 days) and misleading press release, or is there a version more recent than 10.1 (006) available that has not made it to the downloads site yet?

Bryan,
The 10.1.006 is the latest compiler for Mac OS X. This compiler does support Leopard and Xcode 3.0. This article is referring to the 10.1.006 compilers. We tested with the build of Leopard we had and believed it worked. When the actual release happened, we discovered some incompatibilities which we are fixing. Many other vendors are seeing similar issues on Leopard.
As a former developer, I understand your frustration when workflow stalls. There is an update to the 10.1 compiler coming out within two weeks. I assume you opened an issue on Premier. Your TCE handling your issue will keep you posted as soon as a fix is verified for your particular issue.

So I take it that we should see an upgrade in the middle of December?
This is more news than the TCE is telling me.

In general, the TCEs don't talk about dates because they're subject to change. I'm fairly confident that you'll see an update "before mid-December" that addresses many of the issues.
As Ron said, we tested 10.1 with the latest "release candidate" distribution Apple provided us, and we did not see these issues. The actual release, as has often been the case in the past, introduced several incompatible changes and broke not only our compilers but those of some other vendors, plus many other applications that work on Tiger but not Leopard.
It's always a difficult dance when it comes to support of some other company's "latest" software, whether it be Apple, Microsoft or the zillions of different Linux distros.
The press release is correct - our 10.1 release does support Leopard and Apple has been using our compiler. But it is also true that many users are finding problems, and we're working overtime to address them. Your patience, or at least forbearance, is appreciated.
