Since last evening, I find that messages (new as well as replies) disappear into the void after I click on submit. Nothing of what I typed in appears in the forum list, and my profile shows no record of the post having been sent.
Strange!

I am checking with the group supporting the forums to see if there are any known/reported issues.
thanks for bringing this to our attention.

This has happened to me too this morning, at least I am near certain that I clicked on Submit not Cancel.
Also, on one of these threads (can't recall which), viewing the thread presents itself as replying to the thread without text entry box, and therefore you cannot reply.

OK, we're opening a bug report with the forum team. Last week our forums started getting spam bombs. They started aggressive spam filtering and it's possible that is causing issues.
we'll keep you posted. We apologize for the inconvenience and dropped messages.

We had an episode yesterday where all sorts of connections to Intel sites were stalling long enough to account for forum posts disappearing.
I try to remember to save at least a clipbox copy of any post on which I spend signicant time, until I see it echoed back by the forum.
As far as I can see, the spam filtering is an improvement.

I do something similar, using a text editor, so having to resubmit was not much of a problem.
The embarassment of seeing all the repeated messages now showing up is something else. I wish we were given the privilege of deleting the unwanted ones.

We ought to see a delete button next to the reply button on those posts we've entered ourselves. If that isn't available on your account, when you are logged in, you could submit a support request.

That feature is probably available only to Intel staff. I have never seen it.

Where would I file such a request?
Thanks.

You're right, I don't see a convenient way currently to submit an issue specifically to the team supporting this forum.
http://www.intel.com/about/companyinfo/contact.htm offers to accept issues about Intel web sites, but I suppose the forum administrators here have a more effective path. If our comments here don't get their attention, I'll take it up.

I opened a bug report yesterday.
Here's the situation: the forums started getting hit heavily with spam last week. An aggressive spam filter was put in place. Any posts flagged as 'questionable' are put into a queue for approval. Approvals are done by a US team in the Pacific timezone. Thus, you have probably seen a whole batch of posts coming online in quick succession as a human actually is clicking 'approve and post' for each one.
I'll see if they have made any progress on this issue. In the meantime, if you post outside of working hours for US Pacific timezone, expect a delay in seeing your post.

I did get an answer, as you suspected, the delete button is reserved to moderators, who have had to clean up manually some of the duplicate posts. The human moderation of "suspicious" posts was on only temporarily.
My personal belief is that new accounts should be moderated or at least vetted by the requirement of replying to a message sent to a valid email address, to eliminate the use of one-off email accounts, and lack of provision for that has been shown unacceptable.

The particular spammer that has been such a headache to us recently has ways to deal with many of the "obvious" forms of spam prevention, including confirming email addresses, avoiding "flood" limits and more.
