I have problem to convert Compaq Visual Fortran Project (ver 6.1). I am confused by the following statements in the HELP:
Some general conversion principles apply:
Compaq Visual Fortran 6.x projects can be converted to Intel Visual Fortran projects in the Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio 2008 or Visual Studio 2010 environments. Fortran-only projects are simpler to convert.
Project conversion support is provided for Compaq Visual Fortran Version 6.x only. Compaq Visual Fortran projects created with earlier versions may not convert correctly.
Conversion of Compaq* Visual Fortran projects is not supported if you are using Microsoft Visual Studio* 2010 Shell. Instead, create a new Intel Visual Fortran project and add your source files to it.
The first statement says Compaq projects can be converted to Visual Studio 2011 environments and the third statement says they cannot be converted if using Visual Studio 2010 Shell. What are the difference between Visual Studio 2011 environments and Visual Studio 2010 Shell.
Could you please help?

As I understand it :
if you are using the VS Shell i.e. that which is included as part of the Fortran download then the "convert cvf project" is not available. You will have to create a new solution and project and add your source to them.
If you have a version of the full Visual Studio installed then the CVF project conversion will be available.
(I don't have VS2010 installed yet so can't test it)
