Trouble accessing Fortran Visual Compiler through Visual

I am trying to install the Intel Visual Fortran Compiler - Version 10.1 Professional edition (Academic license) on a system having Windows Vista Ultimate (32-bit) version installed. The system houses an AMD Phenom 9950 quad core chip.
I've tried installing the original version from my CD, but have problem accessing the Fortran component from the Visual Studio 2005 component. There does not seem to be a link to the Fortran compiler (i.e. - can't open projects or solutions from Visual Studio). I noticed from the installation information page:

The following note:
To use the Microsoft Visual Studio development environment or command-line tools to build IA-32 architecture applications, one of:

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003* with C++ component installed [3]

Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003* [3]

Do I need to purchase these components separately - or are these licenses included as part of the installation? Would the MS Visual Studio .NET be required for later versions of the Intel Fortran Compiler (Professional Edition)?

The license does not seem to be required for a 64-bit system, but is for the 32-bit operating systems. I've not seen this problem or had any need to purchase any additional software for 64-bit systems.

Version 10.1 includes Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition, so there is nothing else to buy. If you installed from CD, this should be present on your system. It supports both 32-bit and 64-bit development.

Please run the attached program and see if this corrects the problem. If it displays any error messages, please paste them into a reply here.

Please also note that version 11.1 is current. If your support term is still in effect, you can download version 11.1 from the Intel Registration Center. Register your serial number first if you haven't already.

I ran the execution module, and received the following response (see attached file).
There are errors while registering VFPROJ.dll,
error while unregistering VFProjConvert.dll
error while accessing the OLE registry

I've seen others with this problem - it was caused by some other software inappropriately changing protection on some parts of the registry. The first thing I would try is rebooting into Safe Mode and running the repair program again. You reboot into Safe Mode by pressing F8 during the initial Windows boot screen, then selecting Safe Mode. Please also make sure that you are running the repair program from an account with administrator privileges.

I tried rebooting from safe mode, then running the program, I received the following message

I've tried to reinstall using the newest version, but still cannot access the Fortran compiler through visual basic, now...I can't even access the Visual Basic screens. Attached is the installation error log.

You cannot use Intel Fortran from Visual Basic. It requires Visual C++ (or Visual Studio with the C++ component installed.

I saw in the install log you sent what looks like an installation of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Shell. Is there a All Programs entry for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008?

When I suggested safe mode, it was only for the purpose of running the repair program, not to start Visual Studio.

Please start Visual Studio, select Help > About. Click the Copy Info button. Reply here and paste into the reply the text that got copied.

In Add/Remove Programs, uninstall all of the Intel Fortran Compiler entries you see, plus Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. If you want to use Visual Studio .NET 2003, you can install it. Then reinstall Fortran.

I've installed, but receive an error during the installation - still seems to be a registry problem that is difficult to correct. I've tried running the repair kit that you sent along, along but still have the same problems. Attached is the errorlog from the installation.

In the meantime, I suggest uninstalling all of the Intel Visual Fortran and Microsoft Visual Studio entries you see in Add or Remove Programs. Then install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, run it and see if any Intel Fortran or Microsoft Visual Studio entries show up there. If so, have it remove them.

I ran the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, and still am having problems accessing Visual Studio. I'm going to clean the drive, re-install Windows Vista and go from there.I'll let you know how it goes.

I cleaned the drive, installed a fresh copy of MS Vista, then the newest version of Fortran. No problems, up and running.
