Is this compiler compatible or do I need to purchase add on products to make it compatible?

Intel Visual Fortran requires that you also purchase and install one of the following Microsoft products:

Visual C++.NET 2003 Standard Edition
Visual Studio.NET 2002 or 2003

Intel Visual Fortran is "compatible" with CVF in that most applications can be rebuilt without source changes and project files can be upgraded automatically. For more information, please see this whitepaper. You can also ask here if you have more questions.
