I am confused as to whether there is an upgrade path from IVF 10.1 for Windows, for which I have an academic license, to Intel Fortran Studio XE for Windows. Support for my license has expired, which I suspect makes a difference to the upgrade path. For example, there is this option:
Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE for Windows* Single Academic [E-Mail Delivery]
Manuf Part #:FCX999WSGS01
which are both $240, but there are several other options that seem like they are the same thing. Like this:
Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE for Windows* Single Academic [E-Mail Delivery]
Manuf Part #:FCX999WSGS01
Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE for Windows* Single Academic [E-Mail Delivery]
Manuf Part #:FCX999WSAE01
Manuf Part #:FCX999WSAE01
which are both $240, but there are several other options that seem like they are the same thing. Like this:
Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE for Windows* Single [E-Mail Delivery]
Manuf Part #:FCX999WSGE01
which is $699. However, I can find various other options for "upgrading" or "renewing" with varying prices depending on where I look on the Intel Fortran pages. Does anyone know which is the correct option for upgrading a license for a prior version of IVF to the current in the case that the support has expired? If that is not possible, and I need to buy a new license, which one do I use? Is it the Manuf Part #:FCX999WSGE01 from above?
Thanks,
Bill Asher

We do not sell upgrades for academic licenses, as the academic licenses are already heavily discounted. In any case, a license as old as yours would require multiple Software Support Renewal license purchases to bring it up to date, making it more cost-effective to buy a new license.
FCX999WSGE01 is the commercial license - $699
FCX999WSGS01 is a support renewal for the commercial license
FCX999WSAE01 is the single-user academic license, which is the one you want.

Thanks Steve. Reading your answer vaguely reminds me that I think I asked this question a few years ago and you gave me a near identical response. Either that or I've implanted the memory (that I was told the academic licenses couldn't be upgraded) and had forgotten that fact, which means I am falsely remembering that I knew something once but had forgotten it. This has so much ironic potential that I'm hoping it's true.
