Many forum participants could benefit (I know I do) from use of the following tools all are which are downloadable for free:

The latest (2.1) issue of Dependency Walker; its profiling feature is invaluable:

I haven't used these tools yet. Can you give a brief explanation about what they do?

The simplest thing is to hit the links and read their author's descriptions. Each comes with online help. I find these tools to be extremely useful for spotting invalid paths, missing dll's etc., unhandled exceptions in 3rd party components, etc. Sometimes they overhelm so YMMV.
