Hello again;
I am currently working with VSPPE.
I was trying to reference some old projects I had built under VS 2005 Standard, and sometimes when I click on the project, it pretends like it's an empty one. So I have to open a new project, but I want to use the old source code files.
I can't put the new project in the old directory, it says that it expects me to open a brand new directory. So I tried "Open with existing source code."
The generates another error message "Class not registered" and then it gives me some God-awfully long hex number.
So, how can I make use of the previously existing source code? Do I have to reference all the .F90 files from an empty project folder? I can't use the same project name, apparently.

This was the output. It also opened a second command window.
Visual Studio 2005 installed at C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8
Successfully unregistered VFAVwin.dll
Successfully unregistered VFFortSvc.dll
Successfully unregistered VFProjConvert.dll
Successfully unregistered VFToolOpt.dll
Successfully unregistered VFProj.dll
Successfully registered VFProj.dll
Successfully registered VFToolOpt.dll
Successfully registered VFProjConvert.dll
Successfully registered VFFortSvc.dll
Successfully registered VFAVwin.dll
Running devenv setup - please wait...
All DLLs successfully registered
Press any key to exit program
----------------(second command window)-----------------------
Setting environment for using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 x86 tools.
C:DOCUME~1WilliamLOCALS~1Temp>devenv /setup
-------------------------------------------------------------
It kinda sits there for a while. Then closes.
I tried again to run the " open new project with existing code" pulldown, but I get the SAME error message "class not registered." I cannot COPY the contents of that message, however.
Maybe you have a place I can send the SCREEN dump?
Why do I get the message "your license expires in 18 days?" I'm supposed to have a license good till next August.

Ah, I did not realize you were trying the "new project with existing code" wizard. Sorry, that is C++ only. Create a new project and add the source files to it. If you want to reuse the project name, just rename the folder containing the old project.
You have an evaluation license in your license folder. You can ignore the message and it will go away once that license expires, or you can delete the evaluation license from the Program FilesCommon FilesIntelLicenses folder.
If you want to file a formal support request, see http://www.intel.com/software/products/support/
That's the way to go if you have large or many files to accompany a problem report, or you want a formal response. Informal questions can go in this forum.

When you say I have an evaluation license, are you talking about the one that came with IVF 10.1, or did it generate another one when I ran that repair attachment? The IVF 10.1 is fully enabled for a year, so I guess it's not an evaluation.
I was just wondering where the 18 day expiration message came from. I have a year to go on this one, so I want to make sure I'm not interrupted 18 days from now. Is there a way to check for sure?
I looked at the LICENSE folder, and did not see any entries after 9/4, the day I got the IVF10.1 & VSPPE.
BTW, I am willing to try the IVF 11.0, but on another machine. If I install VS 2008 (academic) will that allow me to evaluate it for you? I have an unopened package. Or do you think the IVF 11.0 will work with an IDE in its current state?

My guess was that you requested a 30-day evaluation license, and then purchased a full license. The evaluation license is still on the system and that is what is triggering the warning. If you have a paid license on the system (open the .lic file in notepad and see if it has an expiration date or not), then the warning should be harmless.
If you did not get an evaluation license, then I'm not sure what is going on but I can give you debugging steps as follows:
1. Open a Fortran "Build Environment" command window.
2. Set default (cd) to a convenient folder that contains a Fortran source (or create one in notepad)
3. Type the command:
SET INTEL_LM_DEBUG=log.txt
4. Type the command:
ifort -c yourfortransorurce.f90
log.txt should now be in that folder. Do not post it here, but email it to me at steve.lionel at intel.com
Yes, if you install VS2008 academic that should work fine for 11.0.

Hello Steve;
I looked at the LICENSES files, and the only dates I could spot were in 2009. The most recent one had the keyword PERMANENT in it, whatever that means.
Anyway, I ran the build environment, and in the CMD window put in the two commands you gave. But as far as I can tell, no LOG file was generated. I got a couple of remarks about vectorized code, that was it - - -
Could it have put the LOG file in some obscure place where I can't find it? I looked around as best I could....
How do I get the BETA Fortran 11.0? Should I install VS 2008 first? I'll check your article.

Sorry, that should have been:
SET INTEL_LMD_DEBUG=log.txt
There's an "announcement" thread in this forum with info on the 11.0 beta. You will need VS 2003/2005/2008 installed first.
