VS6 & CVF6.6C3 install order

I've got a questiong regarding the installation order.

1)visual studio 6

2)cvf 6.6.0

3)vs6 sp5

4)6.6C3

is this the right order? does it matter if it is xp or win2k?

This is the order that I installed it and for some strange reason, I can't upgrade to 6.6c3, it says that I do not have cmxl.dll. However, I did a search and I found this file.

Thinking that maybe vs6sp5 did something bad, I uninstalled everything and just installed CVF6.6.0 by itself. However, I still end up getting the same exact error. other than the default uninstall, are there places in the registry that I need to clear out to completely "uninstall" vs6 and cvf?

I can't upgrade to B or C. B tells me the build is incorrect. C tells me I'm missing a file.

Interesting. Try this. Download this and unpack it into the folder where CXML.DLL is, replacing the old one. Then try 6.6C again.

Copy the file CXML.DLL to the the system32 directory, then the 6.6c3 patch will work fine!
