Hi:
Two questions:
1. I downloaded the evaluation version of Visual Studio 2008 and the evaluation version of the Intel Fortran compiler. Everything installed as it should. When I ran Visual studio for the first time, (following the instructions :) ), it asked me which kind of templates I wanted to use. This question was not covered by the instruction set I was following, and the list of templates did not include Fortran. it wouldn't let me refuse to make a choice, so I chose Visual Basic as the closest thing. Then I set up a project from Visual Fortan, and Visual Studio seemed to be fortran aware, since the Fortran compiler runs. But everytime I use the Help or explore anything to see what it does (e.g. code snippets), I get a bunch of Visual Basic Options, or a list of options that do not include Fortran. So, how do I reset things to Fortran? Will the purchased version have Fortran templates?
2. I notice a mention of something called Vtune, which I presume is an optimizer to find code bottlenecks. I can't find any mention of it in the help, and it doesn't appear in the Tools menu. If I end up buying the compiler, will this tool come with it? How do I test this tool in the evaluation version?

The VTune profiler is a separate product, which can work with any of the Microsoft or Intel compilers. So, you could sign up separately for the evaluation http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-software-evaluation-center/
The evaluation ifort is the same as the purchased product. There aren't any sample source codes automatically installed in Visual Studio.

just to add to Tim's comment.
Q1: the help is filtered. So when you open help index (or use F1 button), in the left upper corner you'll find Filter combo box. Pick Intel (instead of Visual basic or whatever else), then you'll get Fortran Help. You should also have (this one I'm not sure, as I have Pro version) the Help->Intel Fortran Compiler help menu item, clicking it brings the Help up.
