What is the best version to install?

We are currently using Visual Studio 10 on Windows 7 and purchased Intel Visual Fortran Compiler as a way to integrate old Fortran code into our VS10 environment.  I keep seeing product releases for new versions of Intel Fortran.  What is the best version for us to install?

I would recommend the latest version, Intel Parallel Studio XE 2016. It still supports VS10, but future major releases will not and we recommend upgrading your VS to a newer version (we now support up through VS2015).

Version 12 is pretty good (probably the best).

For Fortran we still use 14.0.1.139 but I'm hoping we'll be able to update to 16 once update 1 is released.

We are curently on VS2010 and would love to upgrade to 2013 or 2015 but it just isn't possible. We are constrained because of the version of TFS the organization uses (2008) is not supported by 2013 and later and the amount of organizational inertia means that it has already taken more than a year to get exactly nowhere in our quest to get TFS updated. So please, please, please do not drop support for VS2010.

VS2010 support will be dropped in the next major release in the second half of 2016. If you must keep using VS2010 you will have to keep using the Intel 2016 (16.0) version.
