Hello all,
I just started with VF. I installed the free version and a free version of the MS C++ environment as stated in the doc.
I installed VC# first, then VF. I use XPP SP2 on a Sony Intel Inside system.
When I start the dev env, I get a message "Unable to find Microsoft Visual C++ 7.1 or higher", and when I compile a source, obviously, I get : " error #10036 unable to run Microsoft VC++ Dir>\Bin"
What did I do wrong?
Where is the Howto, please?
Thanks,
Didier
France
Edit : I forgot to say that VC# works fine.

Hi, Didier. Nice to hear from you again. (Didier worked for DEC many years ago.)
You should have downloaded and installed Visual C++ Express, not Visual C# Express. An alternative is to download the free 90-day trial of Visual Studio 2008, which lets you have all the features including the IDE, but it is nearly a 4GB download. Of course, if you purchase Intel Visual Fortran, it comes with the necessary Visual Studio pieces.

Hi Steve,
I got the Visual Studio kit. Its actually an .iso archive. I burned a 4,7 Go CD with it, but I still get an .iso file. How should I use it to install the sw?
Tx,
Didier

You need to find the option in your DVD burning software for burning a DVD from a "disc image", which is what the .iso is . An alternative is to "mount" the .iso as a virtual disk. Microsoft has a free tool to do that here.
