According to the reading of the FTC decision given here (http://www.semiaccurate.com/2010/08/06/more-intel-dirt-cleaned-ftc/), Intel have to set aside $10m fund to pay customers who have to recompile their code to get optimized performance, where the customer runs the code on non-Intel processors because in the past Intel's compilers would not optimize, or would actually de-optimize, code where the processor was not Intel's, without telling the customer of this situation. Is that correct?

The sticky thread post just points you to the FTC judgement, which of course is written in legalese. In so far as it addresses compiler shortcomings, I was hoping that a simplified expression of the gist of the legalese would be supplied. The link I posted appears to do that and I was hoping that you could confirm that it was (1) esentially correct in its interpretation of the judgement, or (2) a scurrulously incorrect misreading of it or (3) neither, or (4) both?.

Intel does not comment on articles such as the one for which you posted a link. What you may wish to do is read our Optimization Notice: http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/optimization-notice/
