older COMPAQ Fortran 6 to Windows 7 platform

When my PC was transitioned to a Windows-7 one from XP (beyond my control), the Compaq 6.x (I believe) I have been using for years, almost exclusively in the command line mode for f77 type compiles, stopped working. Fortunately, with the original discs from the compiler purchase I found a path to essentially have the appropriate 64-bit-compatible software loaded as necessary and things jumped back to normal. As I frequently distribute the executables produced on this PC to other remote PC users, how concerned do I need to be as to exactly what flavor of Windows the recipient is using regarding whether the code will run at all/properly? Thanks.

I would not expect any issues with running executables created by CVF on new versions of Windows, as long as you provided DFORRT.DLL if you link to the DLL libraries. I've never seen a problem using CVF from the command line on Windows 7, though. The VS98 environment indeed doesn't work on 64-bit Windows 7.
