"Validated" distributions

Following the thread on Nested loops segfaulting, we have decided to switch our cluster to a "validated" linux distribution. However, both the release notes and the system requirement pages are a little unclear on which distributions fall into that category. Is there a formal list of distributions against which the compiler are tested?

The list on the "System Requirements" page is, I think, the list we've tested against. I agree that the wording on the page is confusing.
