segmentation fault installing Fortran compiler version 11.1 update 8 on Linux

Hi,
Installation of Intel Fortran compiler 11.1 update 8 aborts during step 4 after selecting a custom install (necessary to specify a custom installation directory).
During the custom install procedure, I select "Full" (default) and "RPM" (default), but then after selecting menu option "2" to enter a custom install directory, the script does not prompt to enter a path. However, when I enter a path, the script eventually seg faults.I get the same behaviour with both the ia-32/intel64 tarball and the intel64-only tarball. Anyone have any ideas how to work around this, or is it a bug.
