I am experiencing problems with the intel fortran vfnewitems directory and vista UAC. This is because it comes under Program Files and uac stops me altering anything in that directly, even when logged in as an administrator.
I have two reasons to access files there:
1. To modify NewItems.vsdir, see e.g. http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/showthread.php?t=64708
2. To put my own file templates there, e.g. newsub.f90, newfunc.f90, newmod.f90. I generate these automatically on a daily basis with standard headers, datestamps, authorship, version numbers etc. I can then create new source files from the templates via the Add|New item menu in VS.
This all works fine in XP but is messed up in Vista. I have found in Vista that there is an empty Intel Visual Fortran directory under UsersDocumentsVisual Studio 2008TemplatesItemTemplates, but putting files in there does not help as they do not show in Add New Item. Is there any way to get VS to read the user templates folders for IVF?.
Any ideas on how to solve this or suggestions for an alternative solution. I'd be happy with anything that did not go near Program Files as I feel this is only going to get worse with time.
Thanks
Simon.
