x64 platform not supported in VS2010

I installed Intel Parallel Studio 2013 for both 32 and 64 bit but in VS2010 I can only see Win32 compiler, the x64 tab says 'This platform is not supported'. In VS2013 both versions are available and work well.

The exact sequence of things I did (this caused the problems I think):

- I installed Parallel Studio 2013 and VS2010 - everything worked

- I installed Parallel Studio 2015 and VS2013 - everyting was well.

- I installed Parallel Studio 2016 (trial) and VS1015 - still ok.

- I uninstalled VS2015

- I uninstalled Paralllel Studio 2016 and 2015 as I wanted to have only one version and 2013 supports both VS2010 and VS2013 - that's when x64 support in vs2010 disappeared I think.

- I tried reinstalling VS2010 and uninstalling/reinstalling Parallel Studio 2013 but it still does not work in VS2010 (VS2013) is fine.

- I installed Parallel Studio 2015 and still x64 support in VS2010 is disabled.

This is a bit of a mess I know. We currently use VS2010 but plan to switch to 2013 or 2015 soon and I was trying to investigate how they work with our project.

I've run out of options, please help. Google does not seems to be helpful as well. Is there any way to enable x64 in VS2010 manually?

Vs2010 requires selection of x64 option under c++ setup option, followed by service pack and reinstallation of Intel compilers.

Which option is this? I can't find it... I can compile x64 c++ projects so I guess I have it enabled?

Thanks for help.

When you have pulled down the installer menu option for C++ in VS2010, there is a sub-option to pull down to add X64.  If you can build projects with X64 set, it seems you must have installed that.

It's confusing as later versions of VS would enable 64-bit C++ by default when installed on X64 system.

Now it seems that VS2015 has gone from having all languages present by default to requiring each one, including C++, to be checked on, and the in-place upgrade of the older version is deprecated.

Hello I have the exact same issue. I had VS 2010 with Fortran 14. I installed VS2015 and everything worked well for both 32 and 64 bit. I then installed Fortran 2016 and then 64 bit support is disabled in VS2010. I have tried reinstalling VS2010 with Fortran 14, I have tried unistalling Fortran 2016 compiler VS 2010 options. Nothing helps. This is really annoying as it is on our build machine that uses many different build configurations

@Knut - I’m sorry to read about the problems with the installations/integrations. As a first step, can you please look for any “pset_...” folders in %TEMP%. Additionally, since you are working with 14.0, please look for any “ComposerXE2013SP1…” files. For any of those pset folders and Composer files, please place them into a .zip and attach that to a private reply (Send Author A Message) to me.

@Jakub - If you can collect the same folders and files and also send those to me in a private reply that will help us analyze your case too. Did you resolve your situation yet?

Hi, I managed to 'fix' my problem by wiping my machine and installing windows again. But as Knut have said (we are from the same company) we have a similar problem on one of our build machines on which I tested similar setup. I will send the requested data asap. Thanks for help.

Any news on the issue?

No, there's no news. I've not heard from Knut regarding our receiving the needed installation logs to analyze. The logs from your system related to when you experienced the problems I presume are gone since you wiped/reinstalled your Windows OS.

I have the logs. I thought I sent them to you... but apparently I did something wrong. I'll try again.

I’m sorry, I do not have any news back yet. I pinged and expressed the urgency of the issue.

I did have a few additional questions. Under VS 2010  Help -> About Microsoft Visual Studio,

- What is the VS 2010 version reported?
- What is the package id of the integration component for the Intel Composer Edition for Fortran, and when you click on it, what is the version reported in the Product Details pane?

(Internal tracking id: DPD200378171)

What "doesn't work"? What errors do you get? Based on the descriptions here, I suspect the problem relates to the Windows SDK that gets installed as part of Visual Studio, but if you uninstall the SDK may also be uninstalled or the registry entry for it may be corrupted. Before I go any further, please show a screenshot or zip of a build log that shows an error when building with VS2010.
