Graphics Monitor crash and never successfully starts

Hi:

I can't successfully open intelGPA, when I try to do so, is just stay in no respond and then crash in a few second.

I'm using the newst version of GPA, 24.4.1733503844. At first I can successfully open it, then I try to change the path of "Capture Files Location". (I change it to a folder in ) That's when the error occur. Just right after I change that path, the program goes unrespond and crash.

After that I tried to reboot my computer, and I also tried to reinstall GPA but the problem still remain.

How can I save my GPA?

Hello,

I've put the MonitorConfig.json up, but somehow I can't find the Crash dump files. The folder is empty.

And it works when I try Workaround 1!

It's seems the capture_files_location in MonitorConfig.json uses "/" not"\"(though I don't know why). I change it to "\", and finally it works!

Thank you so much for saving my problems!

Hi Likoko,

Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear that you have been having issues opening Intel GPA Graphics Monitor.

We haven't been able to reproduce this issue, but our team members are looking into possible causes and resolutions.

Were you able to open Graphics Monitor and change capture file locations in previous releases of GPA?

And could you share the Graphics Monitor information? (accessible using the (i) icon in the top right hand corner of the screen, see picture below)

Thank you, and we will update you with any resolution suggestions we have on our end.

Hello,

In fact, December was the first time I using GPA. I haven't try previous releases  before. But after the issue, I tried v2024.4 and 2024.3 but both failed.

Sorry that I can't get information from Graphics Monitor(cause my software keeps white screen, see as the screenshot). Here's the information from SystemAnalyzer

Hey Likoko,

Thank you for the Event Viewer logs and system info from System Analyzer. We have two potential workarounds we would like to suggest for this issue. We would also like to request a couple more files so we can better reproduce the issue.

Could you please share the following files with us (uploading them to your post would work great)?

  • MonitorConfig.json file from default Capture Files Location folder, usually it is C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\GPA
  • Crash dump files from C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\GPA\Dumps

Next, if you could try the following workarounds to see if they enable GPA for you:

Workaround 1:

  • Modify the capture_files_location parameter to specify the correct folder for frames/streams in MonitorConfig.json. (Its possible that this may be enough and reinstallation is not needed)

Workaround 2:

  • Try to reinstall GPA to default location - C:\Program Files\IntelSWTools
  • Make a backup of MonitorConfig.json and dump files (if any) in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\GPA so you can share them with us
  • Remove all content from C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\GPA folder
  • Run Graphics Monitor

Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you!

I'm glad to hear that you were able to start using Graphics Monitor again! And thank you for explaining the issue that you found in MonitorConfig.json. We have documented this issue and are aware of it now.

Thanks again for using Intel GPA for your graphics analysis needs, and feel free to ask any other questions you may have in the future!
