Hello,
I have downloaded the evaluation for IPP 5.1 and I am going through the process of purchasing a full license. I have recently become aware of the 5.2 beta version and I wish tousesome of the added image processing functions in my application (functions that are not in 5.1). My questions are:
- After purchasing IPP 5.1 am I entitled to a free upgrade to 5.2 (within 1 year)?
- I read on the Beta Center website that the beta program is going to expire on 5/7/2007 and I am curious what is going to happen to the 5.2 libraryafter that? Is the library still going to be available (as a beta orreleaseversion?). Is there going to be an upgrade for the 5.1 customers?
I don't want to include the added image processing functions in my application only to find it not be available this summer. My concern is to find out if there is going to be a time following the 5.2 beta program during which I would not have access to these functions.
Thank youfor your time,
Milos

Hello Milos,
1. That's correct, after purchasing IPP you get one year of technical support and free upgrades.
2. After closing IPP 5.2 beta program there will be IPP 5.2 final release issued and you can upgrade your IPP 5.1 to new version
We do not have firm date forIPP 5.2 final release, but preliminary it planned for Q2'07.
Functions which were added to beta version must go then to final release and will be supported for backward compatibility for a long time. In fact, since first IPP release at 2001 we break backward compatiblity only once. Starting from IPP 5.0 some functions were removed from IPP and API for some other functions was changed for effectiveness reasons. You can find the wholelist of changes, which break backward compatibilty with pre-5.0 IPP at Technical Resources page. See for example Intel IPP 5.0 Backward Compatibility article
Regards,
Vladimir
