MKL Scalapack PDGESVD error value of -1701

Hi,
I'm calling PDGESVD and get an error value of -1701 and a message:
On entry to PDGESVD parameter number 1701 had an illegal value

However, this function has nothing like 1701 parameters, so I'm confused - can anyone help? What is this likely to mean?

Thanks...

Problem solved - I'd called DESCINIT twice on U instead of once on U, once on VT, so the DESCVT wasn't initiallised correctly... a return value of -17 would have been much more helpful in this case! But then maybe 1701 means the first element of DESCVT...
