Intel NUCs just go offline

I manage a number of NUCs in various locations globally. At least half of them over the past 9 months , just go offline and no method to remotely activate them. Only method is to get someone at that location to reboot them.

I have attached a log file of 1 NUC that went offline last yesterday.

On certain NUCs I have update all the latest drivers available, OS, modified the bios settings etc.

Any ideas please?

1. From the attached SSU report, I understand that the NUC was powered down on 17 May as result of power shortage. If the power shortage is the cause for NUC to power down, you may set in BIOS Power > Secondary Power Settings to Last State or Power ON.

Other method to wake remotely your NUC from S5 state is using WOL feature. Please read page 38 in NUC- Aptio V BIOS Gloassy.

2. Please read also 1.13.1.2, page 15 in the Technical Product Specification.

3. BTW, the BIOS in your NUC is not updated.

Hi Steven

I can confirm that updating the BIOS didnt resolve the issue.

Have previously tried WOL and that hasnt had any impact.

With regards the NUC we have in london (not attached the logs for this), the NUC is powered on, but just cant ping it. Tried WOL assume it was in hibernation. The only way to get it back online is to manually reboot.

Kind Regards

Hello Jasongr,

In order to continue, could you please confirm if the NUC goes offline after going to sleep or while in regular use?

As well, please update the BIOS to the latest version 0056 (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19485/bios-update-fncml357.html) and also the LAN driver (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/721283/intel-ethernet-lan-network-connection-driver-for-windows-11-for-intel-nuc.html).

Please let me know of the outcome.

Hi Steven

For the NUCs, standby and sleep mode have been disabled in the Windows 10 OS, as that was the initial thought for them going offline. They will become unresponsive if a user is logged in, but at a locked screen.

They are used as an SCCM distribution point so no one is really actively logged on to them, as they are used to download files from.

I will also follow your suggestions and download the latest drivers.

Kind Regards
