Hi,
my Desktop-PC with ASUS Z170-A Motherboard supports Intel RST but n o t Intel Optane.
It has 6 SATA-Ports (0-5). When I try to install Intel RST 16.7.0.1009 the MSI-log (see attached file) is showing at least two Errors.
One says "Your system has Intel® Optane" memory module currently connected to the CPU. This module is a member of a RAID volume." which is not true.
The other says "Failed to find atom ATOM_INSTALLING_VERSION_WITH_SATA_PORT_6_OR_7_IN_USE. Error: 2" which is not true either. I don't have an ATOM CPU.
There must be something messed up with my Installation regarding RST and Optane therefore i'm asking for a cleanup tool.
I attached an SSU-Output but unfortunately even the newest SSU does not include my storage devices.
Kind regards
doberstw

Hello doberstw
Thank you for posting in the Intel® community.
After reviewing the system report I noticed that Windows® 10 built is Build 17763 (this is the version 1809, RS5), the Intel® RST driver 16.7.0.1009 on the release notes informs that it can be installed with Windows® 10 RS4 (version 1803) also this driver version does not support the Intel® chipset Z170 information that can be found on the release notes.
Intel® RST version 16.7.0.1009 release notes:
https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28255/eng/Release_Notes_16_7_0_1009.pdf https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28255/eng/Release_Notes_16_7_0_1009.pdf
You could test the Intel® RST version 15.9.0.1015 that supports your Intel® Chipset

Bear in mind that even though this driver supports your Intel® chipset you may encounter issues due to of the Windows® 10 build currently installed on your system; in case you face issues you could try a Windows rollback.
Hope this helps.

Hello Leonardo,
on a Fresh installed Windows 10 Pro x64 RS5 1809-17763.1 I was able to install Intel RST 16.7.0.1009 in compatability mode on my Z170-Chipset.
The only message was regarding a write Access to a registry key, which i ignored.
The RST-Manager ist working as expected. That made me hope, a cleanup tool would allow me to install 16.7.0.1009 on my productive System either.
If you don't support this idea it's up to you to close this Topic.
Kind regards

Hello doberstw
Thank you for the information.
I am glad to hear that on the fresh install OS is working, allow me to share with you that looking in into the motherboard manufacturer in am noticing that they provide you whit the Intel® RST version 15.2.1.1028 (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z170-A/HelpDesk_Download/ https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z170-A/HelpDesk_Download/), bear in mind that based on the documentation for the Intel® RST 16.7.0.1009 you configuration (OS build and Intel® Chipset) is not supported (release notes:
https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28255/eng/Release_Notes_16_7_0_1009.pdf https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28255/eng/Release_Notes_16_7_0_1009.pdf). I would like to conform is ion the not working set up was a previous RST version installed?
NOTE: in case the cleanup tool for Intel® optane there is not any available at the moment and since there is not Intel® optane hardware on the configuration there is no need for the tool.
