How does Optane reduce video rendering time?

Is it used as the boot drive? Is the video rendered to it as the boot drive or not? Is the video written to another drive? Are the video clips that are being rendered stored on another drive? Once the video editing program is loaded into RAM what does Optane do that speeds up the rendering? Thank you.
