I know supposedly Optane only worked for boot drives.
But since you pick a drive for Intel SRT can I ask whatever that let you set up file-caching for a secondary HDD using an SSD?
If only we could use Optane as we wanted too or if could just keep an extra copy of any blocks it felt we needed faster access too from any drives (but also keep it on the drive it was used for so it didn't ruined filesystems.)
Can one for instance use an NVMe SSD as boot drive and then another NVMe SSD with Intel SRT against a HDD?

NVMe drives can't be used as cache for other drives or be accelerated using Intel® Smart Response technology as the feature is only available for SATA based drives.
Please bear in mind that even though you may use Intel® Optane™ Memory as a standalone NVMe SSD, we do not support this configuration. You can learn more about Intel® Optane™ Memory, its installation and configuration here:
