Total memory WITH OPTANE

If I have 32gb Optane and 12 gb ram and the motherboard and chip allow 64gb of total ram does the Optane factor in the totals?

 

Can I install 2 X32 Gb ram in addition to the 32 Optane or can I just go 2x16 Ram?

Pretty sure the Optane is NOT included in total.

Optane does not count as part of your system memory.  If your motherboard supports 64GB, then install two 32GB sticks.
