I have an Acer Aspire 5 514-53 laptop which came with Intel Optane H10 drive preinstalled.
CPU - i3 1005g1
RAM - 8GB
SSD - Optane H10 32GB + 512GB
BIOS - UEFI mode only
On BIOS page there is only one SATA mode given - "Optane without RAID". But in acer community help I got to know that by pressing "Ctrl+s" it allows you to chose "AHCI" as well.
I have problem of touchpad lag & question regarding optane in decelerated mode.
Touchpad:-
I have no problem enabling acceleration on "Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management" app from Microsoft Store.
But the touchpad lags a lot whenever disk usage goes up. For example if I am downloading something, the touchpad becomes uncontrollable as it lags throughout.
But, interestingly, USB mouse & wireless mouse have no laggy effect. They work fine.
After disabling the acceleration, touchpad lag is reduced to a large extent. But it still exists.
Optane in decelerated mode:-
I have seen that when I use laptop with acceleration enabled the temperature of optane memory module in SSD (in crystaldiskinfo) is around 45degC at bare usage.
But when I use laptop with decelerated optane, the optane module in ssd becomes hot. Its temp remains in 55-60degC even when the disk usage is bare minimum.
Also I would like to know whether I can use "H10 SSD without acceleration" as just another SSD or do I need to treat this SSD differently. Can I install linux or use dual boot with deceleration disabled?
Thank You.

I know Intel H10 installed on my laptop has been discontinued.
But you could have given me some recommendations for my problems & questions I asked in my post according to the experience & knowledge you have about the product.
Whether Intel H10 can be used with "acceleration disabled'" on windows ?
Can Linux be installed on this SSD when acceleration is disabled?
Can I treat this is SSD as a normal SSD after disabling optane memory ?
Will there be a problem if SATA mode in BIOS is selected AHCI after disabling acceleration ?
Thank you.

Hello Frank_12,
Good day,
When a product reaches its EOIS (End of Interactive Support) state, it means there will not be "interactive" support from a technician, but self-support material will still be available. The questions asked are available via these self-support resources. The following resources are some examples:
- Is Intel® Optane™ Memory Able to Accelerate a Dual-Boot System?
- Can Intel® Optane™ Memory products be used in SATA "AHCI" mode?
- Can Intel® Optane™ Memory H Series Be Used on Any System?
Referring to your questions, using the Intel® Optane™ Memory H10 with Solid State Storage without enabling the acceleration feature is possible, however, it's not the intended purpose for this product, therefore we don't recommend it. Using the product in this way is not validated, hence results cannot be guaranteed.
Regards,
Fikri
