I have Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management successfully installed on Win 11.
I am getting some email notifications, for example, that say "
MONSTER system reports Volume's migration state change event on RAID volume
where "MONSTER" is the name of the computer on which the Intel software is running.
Unfortunately, there is no indication in the email (at least none that I can find) that tells me what state change occurred. Sure would be nice if the notification was more informative!

Hello hspindel,
Greetings !!
Thank you for contacting Intel Server Support. We see that the product in question is Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management app. This is client application that works based on Intel® Rapid Storage Technology driver. Hence this is out of our support scope. We are routing your case to the concerned team. You may expect the team to get back to you within 24-48 hours.
Thank you for choosing Intel.
Regards,
Subhashish_Intel

Hi hspinde,
Thank you for posting in the community. To better understand your current situation regarding the RAID volume migration state change event, I have a few questions and clarifications. Please answer the following:
- Could you confirm if your motherboard model is MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI?
- Did you enable Intel® Rapid Storage Technology in the BIOS before installing the VMD controller and creating the RAID configuration?
- What is the current RAID setup on your system?
- Where did you download the Intel RST driver that is installed on your system?
- Have you checked if the Intel RST VMD Controller A77F is compatible with your motherboard?
Additionally, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU) to generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here. How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows

Hello Dhanniel,
Thank you for the response. I am happy to answer the questions you asked, but I am not confident that the answers are very relevant. If you'll review my initial query, you will see everything is working correctly. The sole issue is that when I get an emailed notification from Optane Memory and Storage Management all it says is "State Change Event on RAID volume." This is not very informative. I would like to receive notifications about what state change occurred, for example, "Verify Complete."
Answers to your questions:
Motherboard: MSI Z790 Carbon Wifi 2
Yes, RST is enabled in the BIOS. RAID configuration has four 4TB Samsung 990 Pro NVME drives. The first two drives are a mirror RAID. The second two drives are not assigned (not part of a RAID). All drives work as expected and show the expected capacity in Windows.
The Intel RST driver was downloaded from Intel.
I am attaching the output from SSU.

Hi hspinde,
Regarding the notification message indicating a change in the migration RAID configuration or status on your system, migration state change events on RAID volumes can occur during operations such as creating a system or data volume while preserving data, changing the volume type with a disk addition, increasing the volume size, or adding a disk to an existing array.
If a driver upgrade or downgrade is performed during a data migration, the driver may fail to recognize the volume or read its data. It's crucial to monitor the migration progress through the Intel® VROC GUI application, where the status will indicate when the migration is complete and the volume returns to a Normal state.
I would like to clarify whether your system is newly built or if you recently installed Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management. Additionally, did you migrate your previous RAID configuration? Lastly, have you attempted a fresh installation of the Windows OS and created a new RAID configuration?
Best regards,
Dhanniel M.

I am sorry, but your response in no way addresses the issue I have been asking about.
1) I am well aware of the events that can cause a migration state change in a RAID array. In fact, I used to be a software/firmware developer on the Adaptec RAID team. The issue is not that a state change occurred - that was expected behavior.
2) No driver upgrades or downgrades were performed.
3) I was not familiar with VROC, but everything I read about it says it is an enterprise solution which depends on features of Xeon processors. If you looked at the debugging information you asked me to send (SSU) you would have seen that the processor in use is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K, not a Xeon.
4) The system is a fairly recent build. No migration of a previous RAID occurred. This is a fresh installation of Windows with a new RAID configuration. There is no point in reinstalling Windows, as the RAID is operating perfectly. It is only the email notification that is sub-optimal.
To repeat the issue: I have received email warnings from RST that a RAID state change occurred. This is a perfectly legitimate warning, probably resulting from a Verification Completion. The issue is that the email does not tell me the reason for the state change, and is therefore not very useful. Again, I'll request that the email notification system be improved to report not only that a state change occurred, but exactly what state change occurred. Example of useful notification: "RAID state change, verification complete."

Hello hspindel,
Thank you for your patience. I understand it's been some time since our last update. I'm pleased to inform you that, after thorough investigation and replication, the issue has been resolved with the latest RST driver version 20.2 and above.
Please download the latest RST driver version 20.2.1.1016.4 and let us know the results. If the issue persists, kindly provide the precise steps to replicate it so we can investigate further.
Best regards,

Thank you for the update. Intel RST is installed on my system via the Microsoft Store. There does not appear to be an update available on the Store.

Hello hspindel,
Thank you for your response. I just want to confirm: does this mean everything is working fine on your end now, and have you installed the latest RST version 20.2.1.1016.4?

No, it does not mean everything is resolved.
I am unable to install the latest RST because, as I said, the Microsoft Store doesn't have it.
My previous concern, that RST does not report the reason for a status change, remains unaddressed.

Hello hspindel,
Thank you for the clarification. After reviewing your previous responses, I understand that your main concern is regarding the "email warnings or notifications from RST." I want to assure you that we are currently investigating this issue. However, the matter of RST not being available in the Microsoft Store appears to be a separate issue. Therefore, I recommend creating a different thread for this topic to prevent any confusion. Rest assured, we are actively looking into your initial concern and will provide updates as soon as they are available.

Just FYI:
The version info I have installed from the Microsoft store is:
Product version: 20.0.1021.0
Driver version: 20.2.1.1016
Above you said the latest version is: 20.2.1.1016.4. There is nothing after 1016 in my version number. So I don't really know if I have the latest or not.
