I want to disable Optane and I'm struggling. I've seen other posts with the same, or similar, problems here but I haven't been able to discern a solution. I've been here and noted that the the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application is installed on my computer. This is the application Intel says to use to disable Optane.
When I run the program, I click on the Intel® Optane™ Memory tab on the left and I get a spinning wheel with the message "Preparing system" that doesn't go away. I let it run for over 30 minutes today before giving up.
Can someone here tell me how to disable Optane? My goal is to disable it, clone it to a new SSD (without Optane) and replace the Optane/SSD with the new one.
I should also note that I'm now getting messages that Optane is degrading and I need to disable it to avoid data loss.
I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue. If there is a post around here that provides a solution that I've missed, my apologies.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply.
Not sure this is information you need; please advise if you need something different. When I run Crystal Disk Info, I get the following identifying information for the drives:
H10 HBRPEKNX0202A NVMe INTEL 512GB
H10 HBRPEKNX0202AO NVMe INTEL 32GB
Edited to add: When I run System Information on the laptop, I get the following identifying information for the drive:
Model Intel Optane+477GBSSD
Thanks again for your assistance.

So, in other words, you will provide no further assistance here? I just hang around and hope some other user responds?
Just trying to clarify what you are telling me.

If anyone is following this topic, please note that I've discovered that Optane can't be disabled on an Optane+SSD. I'm going to try to clone it to another SSD. If I can't do that, I'll either pursue a clean install of Windows 11 and all my apps, or toss the Dell laptop running this and buy another laptop.

Hello, and thanks for the response.
I've been to the link you cite, but no joy for me there. If I use the Intel application installed on my laptop and try to disable Optane with it, I get a spinning wheel with the notification "preparing system" that never goes away.
I have stumbled across a Dell site that says Optane can be disabled by accessing the BIOS via F12. Indeed there is a way to disable Optane there but I haven't tried it yet. I may try to clone the drive as is, without disabling Optane, to see what happens. My drive is an Optane+SSD, which combines the Optane with the SSD on the same physical card. I'm a little concerned that if I disable Optane with this "integrated" architecture, my laptop won't boot at all.
If cloning the drive as is fails, I'll try the disabling route, and, failing that, I'm looking at a fresh install of Windows.

Yeah, I know. Your point has been made -- and understood by me -- three times in this thread. My purpose in writing my previous post was to inform any of your customers who might happen by what I've learned. Isn't that why you have a forum?
Anyway, I'll go away now and not come back.
Cheers!
