The update tool kernel panics with
"BIOS has enabled x2apic but kernel doesn't support x2apic, please disable x2apic in BIOS".
The Intel S7200AP server BIOS does not appear to have the option to disable this CPU feature.

I tried adding nox2apic as a kernel boot option, but that did not help either.

As per reading the previous posts and information provided, it seems you are looking forward to update your SSD’s firmware; currently the latest firmware available to download for your drive, is Ver. G2010150; our recommendation to accomplish this Update, is to use the Intel® SSD Data Center Tool (Intel® SSD DCT), provided by Intel on this link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28639?v=t before starting the update process, please read the latest release notes from this link: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28639/eng/Intel_SSD_Data_Center_Tool_3_0_19_Release_Notes.pdf
Additional information is provided by Intel® by checking the User Guide for Intel® SSD Firmware Update Tool on this link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000020439/memory-and-storage.html
It will be very helpful, if we can get some information about your system, where we might try perform some diagnostics; for this, we are requiring with your cooperation to provide us with some information about it.
