Hi,
WIll Optane 905p PCIe x4 drive (add-in card) be compaible with any available x4 PCIe slot (either CPU or PCH sourced) on the ASUS R6E? Motherboard manual says Intel Optane technology is only supported by M.2 when sourced from the PCH, but I suppose the add-in card could be inserted in any vacant M/B PCIe slot with NVMe support to work properly as a system drive.
Please help.
Thank you!!

Hello kalverstukas.007,
Thanks for your interest in our products.
Intel® Optane™ SSD 905P has not been tested with ASUS ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME* from our side. However, the add-in-card version of the drive most basic requirement is a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot with NVMe storage support, the board seems to meet these requirements. We recommend to contact the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/oems.html motherboard manufacturer to confirm compatibility. For a list of Intel tested motherboards, please check the following site:

The ASUS ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME* also lists a U.2 port with NVMe support, this is a viable option for the 2.5" form factor version of the drive. You can find more information about Intel® Optane™ SSD 905P here:
