Hello

Does the pcb of the Optane 905P 960GB (PCIe) is the same pcb as the Optane 900P 480GB (PCIe) ?

Thanks

The waterblock works with the 905P, I mounted it 😉

Just a modification to make on the waterblock, at the "contactor" located on the pcb (for leds on the radiator), not present on the 900P

Thanks for your help

Hello

I'm using a waterblock with the 900P, and I wanted to know if it was compatible with the 905P

I found 900P pcb screens, but not for the 905P

Thanks

Hi tistou,

Thank you for your reply to the Intel Optane community.

Let me confirm both SSDs PCBs, have the same form factor.

Please bear in mind, removing the factory installed thermal protection to the SSD, will void the warranty.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

We will be available to help you in any way we can.

Hello

I suppose the pcb of the 905P PCIe 1.5TB is the same as the 960GB ?

Just the capacity of Nand changes or there is more Nand ?

Thanks

Hello tistou,

Let me confirm PCB share the same form factor, for both capacities indicated.

NAND Chips are different due to added capacity

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

Hi tistou,

Since we can’t provide you with support, specifications or characteristics of the water block you want to use with our drives, we recommend you to reach the manufacturer’s support to obtain additional details about the SSDs where it can be installed.

Please note, any thermal protection other than the factory installed heat sink, is not supported nor validated by Intel®, and removing the factory installed protection will void the warranty.

thank you for your reply

Original SSD heats a lot, I guess the thermal pads used are not very powerful

By just changing the thermal pads, gain 10°C, and with the waterblock, gain 20° C

PS: sorry for my english

Hi tistou,

We have reviewed the details shared in your reply; let me indicate, for the Intel® Optane™ SSD 905P Series 1.5TB, 1/2 Height PCIe x4, 20nm, 3D XPoint™ the factory installed heat sink is designed as sufficient, to keep the SSD cool as per the operating temperature range, this SSD is rated; please see following link to find further details on this drive: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/129833/intel-optane-ssd-905p-series-1-5tb-1-2-height-pcie-x4-20nm-3d-xpoint.html.

In case your PC’s operating temperature is above the rated maximum temperature of 85°C; we advise to check your system’s environment to find the source of extreme heat.

Might you want to use the Water block you have mentioned; the block's manufacturer must provide the necessary support, providing details of benefits on using this block for your application. Let us insist, any thermal protection other than the factory installed heat sink, is not supported nor validated by Intel®, and removing the factory installed protection will void the warranty.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

Have a nice day,

Hi Santiago

Yes I understand

But I prefer when it stays the most "fresh" possible

With the Waterblock, the SSD is at 30° (55° with the original radiator)

Best regards

Hi tistou,

We truly understand what you are trying to do, however since as we have previously indicated, using a water block or any additional accessory is not supported, nor validated by Intel®.

Let us insist, it will be easier for you, to go direct with the water block manufacturer, and obtain their confirmation it will actually work and bring you benefits as per your expectations.

We have already confirmed the PCB is the same, since they follow the same form factor standard; however, more specific information cannot be provided as it’s not public.

Have a nice day,
