Hello, I'm having some trouble loading the Altera PLL in the MegaWizard after I add it in the IP Catalog. I'm able to load other IP components but not the Altera PLL.
Any ideas? Thanks, joeLink Copied

I'm having pretty much the same problem on one of two computers, both in Qsys and from the IP Catalog.
On one computer trying to add the component in Qsys simply causes qsys without warning. On the same computer if I try to do it from the ip catalog I get the same as you show in your image, only the loading bar just vanishes after a couple of seconds and nothing happens. On the second computer both Qsys and the IP catalog work fine. It doesn't seem to be affecting any other ip component in either, just the Altera PLL one.- Mark as New

Yes, what is the deal with that? Im getting mixed messages, is it getting phased out for Cyclone 5 devices in quartus 14.0? I do have it from a file tho, that one works.

Hi, I was using Windows 7 and now I'm using Windows 7 Pro. After the upgrade I had no problems with the PLL's. Sounds strange and that is what Altera's tech support said. Not a good solution but that is my experience.

Hi, this Bug seems to be an old one as you can see in this Thread http://www.alteraforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42975, maybe the Solution that is given there helps you, unfortunately it didnt helped me.
When i came to that point, i started my own Thread http://www.alteraforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46673 , without Answers  so maybe we can find here a solution that works for all. Im running on Windows 8.1 and when i try to instantiate the [Altera pll core] the Megawizard starts and then disappear without any error messages, in qsys the whole application closes. I start Quartus in Windows 7 compatibility Mode and then i can see a Message while including the pll to the project: [14736Error Wizard "Altera PLL v14.0" cannot be launched] While this happens, 2 Error-Log Files where generated in the Altera Directory called [hs_err_pidxxxx.log] with this : [A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: ... alot of content is attached in both files ...] I uninstall the java application and the java development kit, uninstall the Altera Software and start a new try with the latest release but it wont work. The next step was to rebuild the jre64 directory which comes with the altera software with the latest java release, without an improvement :( . On a fresh Windows 7 VM everything works fine, but that cant be the solution for that problem, and a rebuild of my system isnt an option for me.
