In QuartusII 32-bit V11.1 Build 259 I cannot launch a ModelSim (as opposed to ModelSim-Altera) simulation despite being able to bring up ModelSim on its own. I can simulate using the free ModelSim-Altera engine.

1. Under >Assignments>Settings I have selected tool name "Modelsim".

2. Under >Tools>options>EDA_Tool_options I specify the location of the tool executable and this location is lost/erased(!) the moment I click "OK".

Altera won't let me submit a problem until I follow at least one lead from its database search (on the exact wording of the error message given as the title of this post). Since Altera's search provided no leads they blocked me from submitting a query.

Now Altera's search can hand me my own query so I can proceed submit it to mySupport.

Has anyone encountered and surmounted this problem?
