Jam STAPL Player version for Cyclone IV

I have a Jam STAPLE player version 2.3 that I modified by editing jamstub.c so it would operate in my environment. I have been using this since 2005 to configure Cyclone and Flex 10K devices. This player seems not to work on my new board that uses a Cyclone IV. I get a "bounds error" when configuring my chip. 

 

Is Jam STAPL player version 2.3 compatible with a JAM file from Quartus 12.1 that targets a Cyclone IV. Or do I need to use Jam STAPL player 2.5, which is the latest?
